Asymptomatic cerebral ischemia (SBI) or ischemia of other organs may result from embolism introduced into the arterial system during medical procedures. The present application provides methods of administering FXII inhibitors in patients undergoing medical treatment, and animal models useful for studying ischemia, including ischemia, of SBI and other organs, and for evaluating candidate therapies.
