GIS AUTO-UPDATA SYSTEM USING NAME SIMILARITY AND SPATIAL PROXIMITY

The present invention relates to an automatic update system for a geographic information system (GIS) place name attribute using name similarity and distance proximity, which can recognize a place name with representativeness in consideration of proximity between objects and name similarity for processing the GIS such as large capacity of POI and a place name. The present invention comprises: a place name attribute managing module for storing and managing a place name attribute in which a lot of place name information related to the name and location of the object is grouped by region and a representative object is set for each name group; a place name information input module for classifying the place name information input for updating the place name attribute according to the location of the object; a similarity determining module for grouping the place name information classified by the place name information input module by region, identifying the similarity between the names of the objects in the pertinent group, and classifying the names of the pertinent objects into a name group if the similarity is within the similar reference value and the distance reference value; a representative object setting module for identifying the use history information of the name in the name group from the library that manages the use history information of the name and extracting the representative object; and an ID setting module for assigning a name group ID to a name group which is generated by the similarity determination module, assigning a unique ID to a representative object in the name group identified by the representative object setting module, and assigning duplicate IDs to objects other than the representative object of the name group to generate a place name attribute for each name group in an area unit and store the place name attribute in the place name attribute managing module.
