A method for routing packets in a multi-hop wireless heterogeneous network having nodes with different computational resources and energy resources, comprising the steps of: monitoring a set of parameters of operation of nodes in a network, (MOP), comprising routing the packet to a node in the network, and modifying the MOP of the node in response to detecting a change in at least one parameter of the operation. Information about the changed MOP is broadcast to the network, and the packet is routed to the node according to the changed MOP.
