The present invention relates to an ONU SFP module having a time synchronization function, capable of periodically transmitting standard time information to each ONU SFP for time synchronization in an optical line terminal (OLT) forming an optical network and enabling the ONU SFP to provide a signal and information for precise time synchronization to a connected end device based on the standard time information, and a time synchronization method for a network system using the same. In regard to the formation of a network using an ONU SFP module, 1PPS information using a specific pin is periodically delivered from the ONU SFP module to connection equipment, and ethernet frame start time information is applied to each ethernet frame preamble bit string and delivered. Therefore, compensation for instantaneously changed time information can be performed per second in real time, and precise time synchronization can be guaranteed through the simple decryption of ethernet frame preamble bit strings without an extra time compensation device.
