An objective of the present invention is to provide a virtual reality (VR) image acquiring method which can acquire a VR image for a photographing target simply by implementing a VR photographing application installed in a portable terminal without separate equipment or spatial limitations. To achieve the objective, the VR image acquiring method is realized by a portable terminal including a camera, a display, a memory, and a control unit, and having a VR photographing program installed in the memory, and comprises: a shot number input step of activating a shot number input mode on the display to input the number of shots of images to be photographed for a photographing target when the VR photographing program is executed; a size input step of inputting a real size of the photographing target; a photographing guide step of guiding photographing while sequentially activating photographing guide windows on the display to photograph the photographing target by the camera in accordance with the inputted number of shots and the inputted real size; and a step of storing photographing target images in the memory if the photographing target images are photographed on the photographing guide windows.
