The present invention relates to an information providing method for predicting or diagnosing hypertension using a promoter region methylation level of SGK1 gene, and a composition and kit for predicting or diagnosing hypertension. An SGK1 methylation biomarker of the present invention may be used not only for the prediction of prehypertension or hypertension, but also for screening of hypertension, risk assessment, disease identification, diagnosis of disease stages, and selection of treatment targets.
