The present invention relates to an inverter for a pump, in which a conventional configuration of a sensor attached to a pipe is removed from driving control of a pump motor applying an inverter and a pressure estimation algorithm is applied to automatically control the pump without a sensor in a manner of variably changing the rotational speed of the pump in accordance with a discharge flow rate change to discharge a required flow rate, thereby largely reducing power consumption. According to the present invention, the inverter for a pump comprises: reference pump operation data about consumption power in accordance with a desired pump operation lift of a user and a frequency measured at a flow rate point; an operation RPM estimation unit receiving axial force of the pump outputted from a driving unit to determine an rotation frequency, which is RMP of the pump in accordance with the axial force, based on the reference pump operation data; an RPM determination unit receiving feedback of an output of the driving unit to estimate an operation speed of the pump; a proportional-integral-differential (PID) control unit determining the operation RPM of the pump in accordance with the output of the operation RPM estimation unit and an error of the RPM determination unit; and the driving unit receiving an output of the PID control unit to operate the pump.
