The present invention relates to an object tracking system based on a single model, and to an object tracking method using the same. The object tracking system comprises: a photograph unit photographing an image with regard to an object; a model generation unit generating an initial model with regard to an interest object based on the image with regard to the obtained object at a time point of tracking; an object detection unit calculating a posture distortion score and a size ratio based the image with regard to the initial model for the interest object and the object photographed after the tracking is started; a determination unit determining whether the interest object is detected based on the posture distortion score; and a model renewal unit renewing a model with regard to the interest object based on the detected interest object.
