The present invention relates to a calmodulin-like protein 20 (CML20) gene derived from Arabidopsis thaliana for controlling plant tropism, and uses thereof. The CML20 protein can not only regulate plant tropism by controlling the accumulation of callose in plasmodesmata, but also control root growth, and thus can be usefully used in the agricultural field.
