The present invention relates to an apparatus for calculating the installation capacity of an energy storage system associated with photovoltaic power generation. The apparatus comprises: a user input receiving unit receiving, from a user, monthly electricity bill information, residential area information, and target energy independence information; a photovoltaic (PV) representative value calculating unit generating time-based user power consumption information from the monthly electricity bill information, and generating time-based photovoltaic power generation information from the residential area information; an NPV model generating unit generating an NPV model consisting of a plurality of net present value (NPV) by segmenting the time-based user power consumption information and the time-based photovoltaic power generation information according to energy shortage; a photovoltaic-energy storage system least fixed point (PV-ESS LFP) calculating unit calculating the installation capacity of the energy storage system by adding available capacity to seed capacity; and a result information providing unit providing information on the installation capacity of the energy storage system calculated by the PV-ESS LFP calculating unit. According to the present invention, an optimal installation capacity of the PV-associated ESS which satisfies the target energy independence of a home can be confirmed in real time only through a simple input by the user.
