The present invention relates to a method for testing the entire protection chain in gas-insulated medium voltage electrical protection equipment, the equipment comprising a circuit breaker, the method being characterized in that an upstream isolating switch (2) and a downstream isolating switch (3) are arranged upstream and downstream of the circuit breaker (1) respectively, said isolating switches (2,3) being connected in series with the circuit breaker (1); then in a first step, after all three tools are opened, the tool for injecting a current source in an electrical connection point (p) of the circuit of the upstream isolating switch (2) is connected; then in a second step, after the circuit breaker is closed, a current is injected in the first connection point; then in a third step, the current flowing between the first connection point (p) and a second connection point (q) on the second circuit of the downstream isolating switch is measured; and finally it is ensured that the circuit breaker is opened to the desired value.
