Essence: two wells are set at a fixed distance from each other in a selected stratigraphic section of a bog or transitional swamp. One of the wells is arranged according to the method used at the marsh stations and posts in accordance with Rosgidromet standards. Second well is arranged in the form of a casing, passing through the entire thickness of the peat deposit and buried in the subsoil base. Along the length of the casing there are calibrated holes at an equal distance from each other, through which the filtration flow rate is calibrated and known. At the same time, the position of the mouth of the second well is taken as a reference point, it is assigned a height value in any convenient geodetic height system and is used as a geodetic basis of measurements. Periodically, once every 1–2 weeks, the water level is fixed in the first well and in the casing of the second well, and the difference in the levels of marsh water is correlated with the amount of precipitation for the period between successive measurements. Presence and density of the correlation relationship between the difference in the level of marsh water in the said wells and the amount of precipitation in the period between the next measurements is determined.
