FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radar ranging and can be used in on-board radar stations (ORS) for detecting moving targets on the background of an underlying surface. Method is based on the fact that during scanning in a given viewing sector with a beam of an antenna pattern (AP) pulse transmission is coherently emitted to transmission, method includes receiving a pulse signal reflected from the earth's surface by two independent beams AP to reception, spaced along azimuth, wherein beam for transmission overlaps along beam width AP to reception. Received on each beam AP signals are strobed along range, perform their analog-to-digital conversion, accumulate received signals coherently in the entire field of view. Upon completion of accumulation of signals there formed are two array of signal samples, determining steepness of frequency modulation of accumulated signals, determining and compensating time delay between signals received for each independent beam reflected from one and the same section of the earth surface simultaneously with elimination of frequency modulation of signals by their heterodyning. Compensated signal arrays are converted to frequency domain, phase difference is determined between frequency arrays converted to frequency domain for all frequencies and range strobe, and threshold phase difference is calculated for all counts of signal arrays. Phase difference values for all frequencies and range gates are compared with the threshold value, if the phase difference of the threshold value is exceeded, the presence of the moving target is recorded in the signal reading at the corresponding frequency and in the corresponding range strobe.;EFFECT: technical result is higher probability of detecting moving targets.;4 cl, 4 dwg
