FIELD: biotechnology.;SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method for assessing rabbit by degree of maternal instinct, consisting in that by taking into account the state of the formed "nest" with different fluff volume (mass) and without fluff, the rabbit's fluff is divided into classes, wherein for further reproduction of breeding stock in the main flock, the best animals ("elite" and I class); II class rabbit is included in a user herd; III class rabbits are rejected as unfit for reproduction of animals.;EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to increase effectiveness of rabbit breeding due to selection of male and female upper classification classes according to this feature and early (immediately after bringing forth young) rejection of second and third class rabbits.;1 cl, 6 dwg, 1 tbl, 3 ex
