FIELD: oil industry.;SUBSTANCE: use: to determine properties of formation fluids, specifically heavy oil viscosity. Summary of invention consists in the fact that obtaining representative samples of heavy oil by high-speed centrifugation from oil-saturated core sampled from the depth of interest, further measurement of spin-spin relaxation rate of obtained representative samples of heavy oil by pulse nuclear magnetic resonance using a Carr-Parcell-Meibum-Gill sequence on laboratory equipment, followed by processing of amplitude-relaxation characteristic, including obtaining a spectrum of spin-spin relaxation times using the Tikhonov regularization method, determining the average geometrically weighted spectrum relaxation time in interval of 0.01–20 ms, using the obtained average geometrically weighted relaxation time in the ratio for calculating viscosity with known constant coefficients.;EFFECT: technical result is possibility of high-accuracy determination of oil viscosity in 500–100,000 mPa*s range based on nuclear magnetic resonance method both with the help of laboratory investigations, and using borehole NMR logging tools in strong field.;5 cl, 10 dwg
