The rotor has a rotary shaft, a rotor winding, a pair of pole core elements with claw-shaped poles (14a,15a), magnets (21) on both sides of the poles and magnet attachment elements (22a,22b), each of essentially C-shaped cross-section. Each pole has a stopper section protruding towards the shaft from an outer end of the pole that is engaged by the middle section (22b) of a magnet holding element.
