A power generation system with a combined heat and power plant and a fermentation plant has an electrolysis plant, which communicates by means of lines with both the combined heat and power plant and with the fermentation plant. This enables a process in which heat from a cogeneration plant power plant and additional heat from an electrolysis plant can be used for the fermentation plant while the oxygen from the electrolysis plant is used for the cogeneration plant.
