A mobile optical wide area reconnaissance and observation system (MOWABS) comprises a container (16), a communication subsystem (50) disposed in the container (16), an interface device (70) located in the container (16) communicating with the communication subsystem (50 ) is in communicative connection via a wired data network connection (E), a sensor device (63) attached to the outside of the container (16), which is in communicative communication with the interface device (70) via a wired data network connection (E), and at least one infrared sensor, a VIS camera and a laser rangefinder, and a power supply device (20) having a power source (23) and which is adapted to the sensor device with multispectral sensor (63), the communication subsystem (50) and the interface device with electrical energy supply.
