Embodiments provide a method for determining relative positions of receiver stations of a positioning system. The method comprises the following steps: - transmitting a signal with a transmitter from a plurality of different positions within a detection volume of the positioning system; Receiving the signal with at least two receiver stations of the positioning system; Determining a set of measurements from the received signal for each of the at least two receiver stations for the plurality of different positions; and - Evaluate the sets of measurements of the at least two receiver stations to determine the relative positions of the at least two receiver stations.
