Method for controlling a fuel injector (30), comprising: Measuring a pressure in a cylinder (28) of an engine (10) with a pressure sensor (35); Determining a crank angle and a crank speed with a crank sensor (36), Calculating a net indicated effective mean pressure of the cylinder (28) from the measured pressure value in the cylinder (28) and the determined values of crank angle and crank speed with a motor control module (100); Determining a difference between the calculated net indicated mean effective pressure and a referenced mean effective pressure with the engine control module (100); and Adjusting, with the motor control module (100), a fueling parameter of the fuel injector (30) for the cylinder (28) taking into account the difference between the calculated net indicated mean effective pressure and the referenced mean effective pressure indicative of a change in power of the engine (10).
