There is provided a rotor for a rotary electric permanent magnet machine which can be manufactured inexpensively, allows connection of a permanent magnet to a rotor core with high precision positioning of the permanent magnet, and connection of the permanent magnet to the rotor core in an oblique arrangement with respect to an axial direction of the rotor core allows. The rotor comprises a rotor core (1) having a cylindrical portion (11) and a pair of polygonal pillar portions (12) disposed at both ends of the cylindrical portion (11) in the axial direction, and a permanent magnet (2) having a connection surface which is flat and connected to the rotor core (1). The pair of polygonal pillar portions (12) has flat surfaces arranged so that the center portions are spaced apart from each other as seen in the axial direction. The connecting surface of the permanent magnet (2) is connected to the respective flat surfaces of the pair of polygonal pillar portions (12) in a state where the permanent magnet (2) is inclined with respect to the axial direction.
