A superconducting microwave unit (400) is provided. A left-directed resonator (215) contains at least one unit cell (205). A non-linear dispersive medium (405) is connected to the left-handed resonator (215) so that one end of the left-handed resonator (215) is connected to the non-linear dispersive medium (405) and an opposite end of the left-handed resonator (215) is connected to one terminal (410) is connected.
