The invention further relates to a method for producing a water-value regulator (1), comprising the following step: packaging a defined amount of an ion exchanger (3) with a specific absorption capacity that is suitable or one or more water values by a respectively defined value in a water-permeable casing (2), so that the defined amount of the ion exchanger (3) is completely surrounded by the water-permeable casing (2). In addition, the invention relates to a use of the water-value regulator (1) for lowering a degree of hardness of water and / or a nitrate content of water and / or a pH of water in an aquarium.
