A vehicle powertrain includes first and second power sources and a transmission assembly having first and second drive members and an output member. The transmission assembly also includes a first planetary gear set connected to the first input member and a second planetary gear set connected to the second input and output members. The transmission assembly additionally includes a transmission housing that holds the first and second gear sets. Furthermore, the transmission arrangement comprises a first torque transmission device for connecting a first gear set node to the housing and a second torque transmission device for connecting a not connected to the housing first gear set node with a second gear set node. A first gear set node is directly and continuously connected to a second gear set node. The first power source is operatively connected to a node of the first gear set and the second power source is operatively connected to a node of the second gear set.
