A coating material for a silicon carbide-based honeycomb structure, wherein the coating material comprises 20 to 75 mass% of ceramic powder (A), wherein the ceramic powder (A) comprises 55 to 95 mass% of silicon carbide and 5 to 30 mass% of silica as chemical components.
