The invention relates in particular to a challenge-response authentication method (106) of a secure element (SE) to a microcontroller (MCU) without a random generator, the method comprising the following steps implemented by the microcontroller (MCU): • reception of at least random random data (T, IDX) randomly generated by the secure element (SE), • generation (206, 208, 210) of a challenge datum (Z ) specific to the microcontroller (MCU) from the random data (T, IDX) received, • sending (212) the challenge data (Z) generated to the secure element (SE), • receiving a response data (R) generated by the secure element (SE) as a function of the challenge data (Z), • determining (220) an authentication result according to the received response data.
