The invention relates to a method for controlling the tightness of a test object, wherein the test object is filled with a pressurized tracer gas.The tracer gas that may exist around the object is detected by using a leak detector connected to the probe, and a measurement signal (s) representing the tracer gas concentration is continuously obtained from the detector. According to the inventionA first filter (t POS) with a relatively long time constant is used to perform digital or analog filtering of the measured signal in real time to generate a second filter (tneg) with a relatively short time constant to return the filter. A zero filter signal ("sfiltre") with a relatively short time constant after a leak is detected.
