A night vision adaptor 1 is disclosed. The adaptor may be attached to a standard optical sighting scope on a gun or rifle. The adaptor comprises two sections 5 and 6. The first section 5 has provision 2, 3, 10 for receiving the eyepiece of an optical sighting scope and clamping onto it. The first section 5 contains an electronic camera image sensor. The second section 6 contains an electronic image display (16, fig.2) and an eyepiece 4. A focussing lever 9a may be provided, to allow the user to make fine adjustment to the focussing of the camera on the lenses of the scope. The horizontal axis of the first section is arranged parallel to the horizontal axis of the second section. In use, the second section 5 may be positioned so that a user may view an image view on the display. The image sensor is set to the side of the display, so as to reduce the overall length of the adaptor. The eyepiece may thus be much closer to the normal viewing position.
