To provide a method for simply and efficiently treating a tin compound in a reaction mixture. A method for producing a compound B which comprises reacting a compound A as a starting material by means of stannous chloride in accordance with the following reaction formula (1) and which includes a purification step of bringing the above reaction liquid into contact with a mixed liquid of a compound having a benzene ring and a potassium hydroxide aqueous solution to carry out liquid separation and obtaining the compound B from the obtained organic layer: where the compound A may be a single compound or a mixture of plural compounds.
