METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING TIME-CRITICAL DATA WITHIN A COMMUNICATION NETWORK AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE

To transmit time-critical data within a communication network, selected datagrams are assigned to data streams and paths assigned to the data streams are transmitted. In the event of a reservation request for a data stream, forwarding communication devices each check whether sufficient resources are available in the respective communication device for data transmission in compliance with specified quality of service parameters. For this purpose, the forwarding communication devices determine the latencies to be expected in each case on the basis of expected latency values of forwarding communication devices preceding along the paths. If the maximum latencies are observed, a latency confirmation is transmitted to the preceding forwarding communication devices. The forwarding communication devices only reserve the resources for the transmission of the data streams if there is a latency confirmation in each forwarding communication device along the respective path.
