A media access controller, particularly for use in a network environment of a tactical air defense system, includes at least two frame queues configured to cache data frames, a classifier preceding the at least two frame queues, which is adapted to frame data frames in accordance with frame priority information contained in headers of the data frames sorting into one of the at least two frame queues, and a time control device downstream of the at least two frame queues, which is designed to sequentially extract data frames from the data frames temporarily stored in the at least two frame queues according to a predetermined arbitration logic and to output them as a sequential output frame stream.
