The present invention relates to a method for the system design of an electrical automation system, the method having the following method steps: providing (S1) a system layout of the automation system with a load and energy distribution assigned to the provided system layout for cabling of the automation system; Generating (S2) parameters for the assigned load and energy distribution of the automation system; Carrying out (S3) a system test for the provided system layout of the automation system based on the generated parameters; and optimizing (S4) the system layout based on a result of the system test and the generated parameters.
