The invention provides a method and a system for assessing an image quality of a medical imaging data file. The method comprises the steps of:a) receiving (S10) a medical imaging data file;b) assessing (S20) an image quality of the received medical imaging data file;c) determining (S30) whether the provided quality evaluation for the received medical imaging data file meets a predefined quality criterion;d) if it is determined (S30) that the image quality does not meet the predefined quality criterion, transmitting (S40) at least the received medical imaging data file to a remote application entity;e) analyzing (S60) at least one medical imaging data file (1) transmitted to the remote application entity;f) generating (S70) a result signal based on the analyzing (S60) in step e) and transmitting the generated result signal to at least one recipient.
