FALL PROTECTING FLOORING ELEMENT PRIMARILY FOR COVERING PLAYGROUNDS AND FLOORING COMPOSED THEREFROM

Fall protecting flooring element with a body of resilient material, having patterns at its four sides (A, B, C and D) enabling interlocking by form-fitting connections. At the corners (E, F, G, FI) short straight corner sections (14) are provided. The patterns comprise an alternating sequence of connection tabs (12) and recesses (13). The sides (A, C) starting from a corner (E) at one end of a diagonal of the body are provided with the same first pattern and the sides (B, D) starting from the corner (F) at the other end of the same diagonal also have an identical second pattern. The tabs (12, 12') and recesses (13, 13') have widths that all take their maximum values at a central part of their height from which maximum the width decreases both in outward and inward direction. In the first pattern at the bottom of the connection recesses (13) respective plates (16) are provided which form integral part of the body and which have a thickness smaller than the thickness of the body, wherein the front edges of the plates (16) extend till a virtual straight line interconnecting said corner sections (14) on the associated side. The connection tabs (12') in said second pattern have a thickness smaller than the thickness of the body which is just by the thickness of the plates (16) and the straight lines interconnecting the corner sections (14) fall in the central part of the concerned pattern.
