PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive inter-channel discriminative rescaling filter. A method of filtering an audio signal includes modeling a probability density function (PDF) of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) coefficients of the primary and reference channels, and an estimate of the noise magnitude of the reference channel. Maximizing the PDF to provide a discriminant association difference (DRD) between the noise magnitude estimate of the primary channel. The primary channel is emphasized when the spectrum magnitude of the primary channel is stronger than that of the reference channel, and suppressed when the spectrum magnitude of the reference channel is stronger than that of the primary channel. The multiplication rescaling factor is applied to the gain calculated in the pre-stage of the speech enhancement filter chain, and if there is no pre-stage, the gain is directly applied.
