To provide a system and a method for correcting a longitudinal position of a vehicle.SOLUTION: The system, method, and other embodiments disclosed in this description pertain to correcting a longitudinal position of a vehicle using a landmark on a map. One embodiment performs the following: identifying a land mark on a map located within a predetermined distance from the vehicle on stored map data; identifying one or more detected static objects located within a predetermined distance from the landmark on the map; tracking one or more detected static bodies at least for a first predetermined period; matching a specific object among the one or more detected static bodies with the landmark on the map; tracking the specific object at least for a second predetermined period; calculating a distance in the longitudinal direction between the specific object and the landmark on the map; and correcting the longitudinal position of the vehicle based on the distance in the longitudinal direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
