DATA INDEPENDENT ACQUISITION OF PRODUCT ION SPECTRUM AND REFERENCE SPECTRAL LIBRARY MATCHING

To provide a system for making an electronic record of a total product ion spectrum of all detectable compounds of a sample.SOLUTION: Multiple product ion scans are performed on a tandem mass spectrometer one or more times in a single sample analysis over a mass range 220 using multiple mass selection windows 210. A total sample product ion spectrum of all detectable compounds for each mass selection window is generated. The total sample product ion spectrum for each mass selection window is received from the tandem mass spectrometer by using a processor. The total sample product ion spectrum for each mass selection window is recorded as an electronic record of all detectable compounds of a sample by using the processor. The electronic record is used to characterize a known compound when the electronic record is stored and characterize a known compound after the electronic record is stored.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
