To provide a simple and inexpensive method for testing catalytic activity of a metallocene catalyst capable of knowing the catalytic activity of a metallocene catalyst without actually carrying out polymerization, a method for producing a catalyst composition for olefin monomer polymerization including the testing method and a method for producing a polymer using a catalyst composition for olefin monomer polymerization produced by the producing method.SOLUTION: An absorbance of a solution of a metallocene catalyst (a) is measured by an ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometer. In the spectra of the absorbance obtained by measuring absorbance, a specific wavelength which is a peak wavelength in a range of a wavelength of 350 nm to 500 nm is determined, a value of a specific absorbance which is an absorbance at the specific wavelength is obtained, and a catalytic activity of the metallocene catalyst is tested using the value of the specific absorbance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
