To control an image acquisition device to simplify operation of the image acquisition device and contribute to improvement of image acquisition quality.SOLUTION: A method for operating a medical image acquisition device (8) during an image acquisition process of a patient (14) is provided. The image acquisition process is used for image acquisition, and control of the image acquisition device (8) is performed based on operation parameters performed by a control device (15) of the image acquisition device (8). The operation parameters are completely automatically determined with a determination algorithm (6) from at least input data (2, 3, 4, 5) describing at least one of the patient (14) and the purpose of image acquisition in the form of a patient model and a registration (1) of the patient (14) by means of a coordinate system of the image acquisition device (8), and is used to control the image acquisition device (8).
