To provide an apparatus and a method for removing nitrogen and phosphorus from sewage water using sponge iron and activated sludge.SOLUTION: An apparatus that comprises a raw water tank 1, a pH adjustment tank 2, a one-stage SBBR reactor 3, a two-stage SBBR reactor 4, an intermediate water tank 10, and a drainage tank 11. The apparatus makes it possible to simultaneously achieve the effects of removing nitrogen and phosphorus in a single reactor and to obtain high nitrogen and phosphorus removal rates, by utilizing the joint action of the sponge iron and the activated sludge through the modification of sponge iron, the preparation of composite fillers, the inoculation and acclimation of sludge, and the treatment of waste water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
