To provide an arc stud weld method for jointing different materials which can strongly joint different materials such as an Al alloy or a Mg alloy and a steel with reliable quality and with high efficiency, and which can be applied in an open cross section structure and closed cross section structure without limitation.SOLUTION: An arc stud weld method for jointing different materials is configured to: overlap a first plate 10 formed of an Al alloy or a Mg alloy and a second plate 20 formed of steel, and move a steel joint auxiliary member 30 having a stepped contour shape with an insertion part 31 and a non-insertion part 32 toward the first plate 10 through a non-consumable type electrode 40; then generate an arc between the joint auxiliary member 30 and the first plate 10, to melt a tip end part of the insertion part 31, the first plate 10, and the second plate 20 by arc heat, to form a molten mixture; then move the joint auxiliary member 30 toward the second plate 20, make the molten mixture flow, insert the insertion part 31 into the first plate 10, and weld the joint auxiliary member 30 and the second plate 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
