To improve efficiency of processing concerning changes in a case of receiving currency and performing settlement.SOLUTION: A settlement device 10 calculates a settlement amount by summing the prices of registered merchandises (S1), receives input of currencies by a user (S2), and calculates a difference between a received amount which is the total amount of input currencies and the settlement amount as a change amount (S3). The settlement device then generates a two-dimensional code obtained by encoding the change amount and a notification destination (S4), and outputs them by display or printing (S5). A terminal device 70 of the user reads the two-dimensional code (S6), and transmits the change amount, the notification destination, and an account of the user to an electronic money management server 80 to execute charging of electronic money (S7). After charging, the electronic money management server 80 notifies the settlement device 10 designated as the notification destination of the completion of charging (S8).
