To highly accurately estimate a fracture starting point in steel material due to hydrogen embrittlement.SOLUTION: The device 1 for estimating a fracture starting point in a steel material includes: a hydrogen-concentration-distribution calculation section 11 for calculating a hydrogen concentration distribution in the steel material at fracture of a the steel material due to hydrogen embrittlement; a local-limit-hydrogen-amount calculation section 12 for calculating a local limit of hydrogen amount causing the fracture of the steel material due to hydrogen embrittlement; and a fracture-starting-point-estimation section 13 for estimating the fracture starting point by reading the hydrogen concentration distribution from a storage section 3, calculating, from the hydrogen concentration distribution, a position in the steel material at which the hydrogen concentration of the limit hydrogen amount is distributed, and determining the above-mentioned position in the steel material to be the fracture starting point of the steel material to be estimated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
