An implant for improving atrioventricular valve coaptation, wherein the atrioventricular valve has a natural first leaflet, a natural second leaflet, and an annulus, and from upstream to downstream of the valve. The implant comprises a support structure configured to be secured to the annulus or native first leaflet, the implant comprising a flexible artificial leaflet structure attached to the support structure. The body further comprises a flexible artificial leaflet structure including a rim shaped to mate with the natural second leaflet, wherein the rim is a pocket that opens downstream.
