To provide a sewage treatment operation status evaluation device and a sewage treatment operation status evaluation method, easy to be introduced, and possible to evaluate a sewage treatment operation status by accurately identifying microorganisms.SOLUTION: There is provided a sewage treatment operation status evaluation device that analyzes an input image obtained by imaging a microorganism living in a water treatment tank, and calculates which classification category the microorganism belongs to, for a sewage treatment facility where the microorganism purifies sewage stored in the water treatment tank, and evaluates an operation status of sewage treatment, the device including: a microbial feature learning unit 25 having machine learning equipment and configured to perform machine learning by inputting learning data including a learning image regarding the microorganism into the machine learning equipment, and create an identification parameter relating to identification of the microorganism; a microorganism identification unit 27 that calculates an identification category to which the microorganism belongs in the input image using the identification parameter; and an operation status evaluation unit 28 that evaluates an operation status of the sewage treatment based on an identification result in the microorganism identification unit 27.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
