To provide a method, apparatus and system in a wireless communication system in which an access point allows only appropriate access points to accept association requests, on the basis of link quality values between the access points and a mobile terminal.SOLUTION: In a wireless communication system comprising a mobile terminal (MT) and multiple access points (APs), an AP1 with an active association with the MT determines 301 that the link quality is below a predetermined threshold. Through probe requests 303 and probe responses 304, the AP1 instructs 302 other access points AP2, AP3, ..., APn, to report quality of a link to the MT. On the basis of the received link quality reports 305, the AP1 selects one or more of the APs as appropriate for future association with the MT, and instructs 306 the APs to accept or reject future association requests.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
