Anti-opioid vaccine

The present invention provides haptens and methods for producing oxycodone and hydrocodone immunoconjugates suitable for producing antibodies specific to opioid drugs in animals. Administration of an opioid-specific antibody to a human containing an opioid drug in a bodily fluid such as serum causes the opioid drug to bind to the antibody, making the opioid unavailable for production of drug action. Thus, the antibodies can be used to reverse the effects of drug overdose of oxycodone and hydrocodone, or to reverse the sensory mental effects of the drug such as euphoria. [Selection] Figure 1
