Embodiments provide methods and apparatus for recovering components from hydrocarbon feedstocks. According to at least one embodiment, the method comprises the step of feeding a hydrocarbon feedstock to an oxidation reactor, the hydrocarbon feedstock selectively selecting sulfur compounds and nitrogen compounds present in the hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of a catalyst. Oxidizing under conditions sufficient to oxidize the hydrocarbon, the hydrocarbon, the oxidized sulfur compound, and the oxidized nitrogen compound are separated by solvent extraction, the oxidized sulfur compound and the oxidation. Collecting a residual stream containing the generated nitrogen compounds, and supplying the first residual stream to a fluid catalytic cracking unit. The first retentate stream is further fed through a hydrotreating device before feeding the first retentate stream to a fluid catalytic cracking unit.
