To provide a method for analyzing the state of contamination of a separation membrane that enables simple and rapid analysis without being affected by water to be filtered in water treatment.SOLUTION: A method for analyzing the state of contamination of a separation membrane comprises: a filtering step of providing a separation membrane 14 in a flow path 3 of filtration target water 1 in water treatment and filtering the filtration target water 1 through the separation membrane 14; a light irradiation step of irradiating the separation membrane 14 with excitation light from a spectrophotometer 20 used for fluorescence spectroscopy; a fluorescence spectroscopy step of causing the spectrophotometer 20 to receive fluorescence from the separation membrane 14 for spectroscopy; an FEEM creation step of creating a three-dimensional excitation fluorescence matrix spectrum (FEEM) on the basis of information about the wavelength of the excitation light and the wavelength of fluorescence used in spectroscopy; and an FEEM analysis step of analyzing the contamination state of the separation membrane 14 on the basis of the relationship between the integrated value of the fluorescence intensity and the total amount of filtered water in a predetermined region of the created FEEM.
