To provide a diffraction optical element which can secure the traceability of each manufactured product, a multiple-surfaced body of a diffraction optical element, a method for managing a diffraction optical element, and a method for inspecting a diffraction optical element.SOLUTION: A diffraction optical element 1 includes a base material 1a and a resin layer 1b in the base material 1a, the resin layer 1b having a shaped pattern which fits to a molded pattern, and the shaped pattern having a diffraction grating 10, a pattern identification code 20 for identifying a molded pattern, and a position identification code 30 for identifying the position of the diffraction optical element 1 in the molded pattern.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
